Since June 2017, the International Department has been running the Free Talking class every Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Participants are international missionaries, foreigners and Buddhists who are interested in Buddhism and English conversation. The conversation topics, which participants take turns to choose freely every week, cover the world-famous news and researches related to Buddhism from various resources such as Buddhist magazines, Internet sites and SNS.
First, participants read the material and try to grasp its meaning. Then, they express their opinions and share their own ideas on the issue in English. Doing so, they gain a deeper understanding of Buddhism and learn how to speak English more fluently.
The International Department is also in charge of translating tasks both inside and outside of JOKB.

Kim Eunkyung, Lee Yunghee and Chung Hyungeun, members of the International Activity Department volunteered as simultaneous and consecutive interpreters and translators.
Also, a joint choir was formed for the 15th Sakyadhita International Conference on Buddhist Women and was comprised of International Dharma Instructors(IDIs), Buddhists from Geumyoonsa Temple, and the members of the Sakyadhita Korea to introduce Korean Buddhist songs.
